General

What is my minimum commitment to the service if I register?

Unlike other systems, there is no minimum commitment with Intact from QAS. Even after your data has been processed, you are not obliged to download the results and there is no charge for the data healthcheck.

You will only be charged if you wish to download your cleansed, suppressed and enhanced data. In addition there is no minimum or maximum usage requirement. You can use the system as often or as infrequently as you like.

Submitting data

What is the largest datafile I can reasonably send?

There is no fixed maximum, however due to the possibility of line failure we would not recommend that you send more than 500,000 names and addresses in any one transmission.

If you have more data than this, we would suggest that you break it up into chunks of 500,000 (around 50MB) or less. There’s nothing to stop you simultaneously uploading several files at once from several servers.

The inbound lines to Intact from QAS are extremely fast so the transmission speed will be entirely determined by the speed of your Internet connection.

How long will it take to process my data?

When you send us your data it is added to a queue for processing. The length of the queue at the time we receive your names and addresses will determine when we begin to process your data.

As soon as your data has been processed you will receive an e-mail with your free data healthcheck. In general we try to get your data healthcheck to you within 48 hours, however, we cannot guarantee this during busy periods.

What happens if my line or computer fails in the middle of a transmission?

Simply fix the problem and restart the transmission. Intact from QAS will not process the part-transmission that failed.

What different kind of data sources can I use?

Intact can extract data from all of the following data sources:
 - Microsoft Access
 - Microsoft Excel
 - CSV Delimiter file
 - Fixed Width file

I have a file of business names and addresses that I would like to clean, suppress and enhance. Can I do this through Intact from QAS?

The online Intact from QAS service does not currently provide access to business data. To find out more about QAS' off line services please call 0800 107 6717 or speak to your account manager.

When can I download the cleansed data?

You will be notified by email when your results are ready to download.

Which files are free and which do I have to pay for?

Only the file containing the telephone code updates is free.

How many times can I download a results file?

Within 5 days of the job submission, there is no limit on how many times you can download your results file.

After 5 days, you will need to resubmit the data.

What are the file specifications?

Intact gives you the option of downloading your results in three different types of file:

File type

Description

ALL File

The “.ALL” file contains both the original data and the updated data next to each other plus a flag for other services such as suppression. If the NCOA service is taken then it will result in three addresses (original, PAF validated and NCOA address).

MAIL File

The “.MAIL” file contains all records suitable for mailing. It contains the same address and telephone number information as the .NET file, but suppressed addresses will be removed rather than being flagged.

NET File

The “.NET” file contains changed information, and the original information if it has not been changed during processing. It will contain just one address (the best available for each record depending on the services taken) and one telephone number plus a flag to indicate any applied services such as suppressions. The address will either be the submitted address (if it cannot be matched to PAF or the NCOA) the PAF address (if it can be matched to PAF but not the NCOA) or the NCOA address (if this service is taken and the submitted address matches to the NCOA file).

Security

How is my data uploaded and transferred from the web site to Intact for processing and how do I know this is secure?

All communication, including data transfers, between Intact from QAS and the customer is done via 128-bit encryption. This allows tight control of all data transfers.

All customer data, including the source data and the results data, are compressed and encrypted with a password using the ZIP standard. After this process the data is ready to transmit over the internet.

SSL communication is used for all communication that requires security including payments.

The SSL encryption protocol employed is standard 128 bit Verisign/Trustwise provided.

If am paying by credit card how do I know that this is secure?

All payments, by credit card, are made through the standard 128-bit VeriSign/Trustwise SSL encryption protocol. Payment details are used for a single transaction and then deleted.

This is a proven secure form of payment via the internet.

What will Intact from QAS do with my data afterwards?

All submitted data files are deleted from the system after 5 days.
